What is the best way to wash wool.

You can enjoy your wool product for years if you maintain it properly. You don't have to wash wool very often, it is naturally anti-bacterial. A good night of hanging out also ensures that odors often disappear. Still, it's a good idea to wash occasionally.
Hand wash
As a rule, we recommend hand-washing wool. But this certainly has risks. Wool should be washed at 30 degrees, which feels quite cold. But few people check the water with a thermometer. Washing too hot or too cold results in shrinkage. In addition, people often use too much detergent when hand-washing, and are less able to rinse it out. Wringing too hard is also a risk. We therefore recommend washing your wool product in the machine and following the washing instructions.
Correct temperature
As stated above: you wash wool at 30 degrees, and certainly not hotter or colder! A too cold temperature can frighten the fibers and this can also cause shrinkage.
In the machine
If you want to wash wool in the machine use the wool wash programme. Make sure the spin speed is no higher than 600 rpm. Again: a high spin speed will shrink your woollens. Also important: wash wool with wool. Do not add jeans or clothes with zips. Our Teddy wool we do not recommend machine washing (read more below).
Wool detergent
Wool naturally contains a type of fat, lanolin. This gives the wool a soft protective layer against dirt and retains heat for a long time when it is cold. But it also ensures that the wool remains elastic and wears less quickly. By using a special wool detergent that contains lanolin, you can continue to enjoy these properties. In addition, special wool detergents never contain bleach, which is disastrous for wool.
Teddy Wool
To keep this wool Teddy fabric beautiful and soft, we recommend washing these products only by hand at a maximum temperature of 30°C. When doing so, proceed with care and use a mild wool detergent. Avoid bleaching, ironing, tumble-drying and spinning. Let the fabric dry flat to preserve its shape. Dry cleaning is also possible.
Tip: Wool does not need to be washed often. A quick airing outside is often enough to keep the fabric fresh.
Why wool is so special
Wool is by nature a smart and special material. Thanks to the presence of lanolin - a natural fat in high-quality wool - it is self-cleaning and antibacterial. As a result, dirt and bacteria are less likely to adhere to the fibres and odours disappear simply by airing the garment. Unlike many other fabrics, wool therefore stays fresher for longer, without the need for frequent washing. This makes wool not only comfortable, but also very easy-care.
